Tips you might use!

1) Eliminate Microwave Odors: by using lemon juice. Put a few ounces of lemon juice in a cup of water, and the cup into the microwave. Turn on microwave for a minute or so. The heated lemon water will help remove those odors.

2) Next time you experience burns: use vanilla extract to relieve initial pain. Generously moisten a cotton ball or swab with vanilla extract, and roll it gently over your burn. Then squeeze out any excess extract over your skin. Wait for relief!

3) Remembering leftovers: so they can be eaten instead of throwing them away. Tape an index card to the refrigerator door listing what’s inside the fridge. Then others will know what’s available. Just make sure to cross the things off the list once they’ve been eaten.

4) Shiny dog fur: by beating an egg and putting it over your animal’s food. Egg has protein, which will leave your animal with soft shiny fur.

5) Remove Pet hair, when you dilute ½ cup of fabric softener with two cups of water. Spray on carpet, furniture, and rugs. Wait ten minutes. Vacuum as usual. Carpet will be soft and smell nice too.

6) Threading Needles: are simple when you spray a bit of hair spray on your thread first, to make it stiff. Or, coat the thread with wax from crayons or candles. The thread will slide easily through the hole.

7) Prevent unraveling: of nylon shoestrings or shoelaces by singeing the ends of the string with a lighter. Squeeze the warmed ends, with a wet rag. The string’s end will be hard. Or, dip the end of the string in clear nail polish.

8) An alternative to french fries or chips: is parsnips. Parboil them, cut into strips and sprinkle with oil. Roast in the oven until golden brown.

9) Brighten Dull Pots and Pans: by boiling a few apple peelings in each. Adds a great scent to your home while brightening the pots and pans.

10) Pungent odors emanating from you dishwasher due to your kitchen utensils can be eliminated: Put ¼ cup of lemon juice in your dishwasher and run through the wash cycle.

11) Protect your car’s carpeting: during winter by using rubber, waffle style, floor mats. They help control salt, slush, and mud, stay in place, and don’t allow the water to seep through. They are also easy to clean. Carpet-style mats are helpful, too.

12) Preserve car door and window seals: by coating with a rubber protectant or silicone. Don’t use oil it damages the rubber. This treatment also prevents the weather stripping from sticking in cold weather, helping to eliminate rubber gasket damage.

13) Cakes: When using a glass, baking dish for cakes, lower oven temperature by 25 degrees. For cake storage, place half an apple in the cake container. Don’t have a cake or tart cover? Invert the bottom of a salad spinner or use a spring form pan.
To dress up cakes and pies place a doily on top, sprinkle with powdered sugar and remove. Quick and impressive!
